'Princess Alice' 706 Restoration Appeal

The Fylde Tramway Society is fundraising to enable the restoration of Blackpool's iconic open-top Balloon tramcar 706 'Princess Alice'. Our aim is to resturn 706 to it's 1985 condition in time for the Society's 50th Anniversary in 2021, with tasteful adverts on the sides of the car. 706 has not operated since 2015 and requires a replacement underframe which is expected to cost approximately £10,000.  The tram will also require major body work repairs, re-panelling and a full repaint; early estimates indicate that this work will cost around £50,000-possibly more.  Please help us restore this unique vehicle!

Anyone who donates £100 or more to the 'Princess Alice' 706 FTS Restoration Appeal will receive some perks, as a thank-you for their generosity in supporting the project.

* 'Thank You' certificate acknowledging your donation

* 'The 706 story' souvenir booklet

Gold supporters of 706 will also be given advance notice of plans for the re-launch of the tram, following it's overhaul.

The Fylde Tramway Society are delighted to announce that the Appeal has reached £10,000! This means the first phase of the restoration work can now take place. 706 is currently in a queue behind another tramcar currently having some work done. Once that job is complete, work on Alice can commence!

Of course, reaching £10,000 does not mean the end of the appeal! We still have another £40,000 to raise to complete the entire restoration. So please keep those donations coming in! Big or small, all donations are appreciated!
